Nostalgic Christmas in the Living Room

Hi Everyone! I have been busy readying the place for the holidays - can you believe how fast it is approaching? Yikes!

I am sharing some nostalgic décor in my living room and front foyer.  Enjoy!

Picked up this cute snowman hat topper at Menard's on Saturday for only $7.99 - cute!  I am going for a happier, old fashioned vibe this year and this fits the bill.  I even went with colored lights for the first time in 30 years! I wasn't sure how I would like it, but I have to say I love it! Really casts the homey look I am after this Christmas season. This tree always overflows with the special ornaments collected over the years....my favorite.

Just a few old items on my shelf behind the sofa. Picked up the green mercury glass orns at Tar-Jay several years ago for 90% off - deal!  You will see the same Santa on Mary Tyler Moore's desk in one of the Christmas episodes of her old show.  Makes me smile!

Polar Express Santa and his Christmas books waiting for little ones.  My mom refinished this rocker ages ago and all of my nieces & nephews loved to spend time in it when they were growing up.  My daughter, who is nearly 23, still squeezes into it during holiday time! We are so blessed to be the keepers of this precious family piece.

An old yellow ware bowl overflowing with ornaments and a grapevine bowl sitting on a World Market cloth.....looks so pretty on my coffee table.

Even the houseplants got a little Christmas - this one sports a perky snowman and peppermint pick.

In the foyer, you will find an old PlaySkool mailbox in a basket tray - this is where I will be keeping the Christmas cards we will receive this season.  You can read more about my mailbox here.

I will be back soon with more Christmas décor! Have a great week!

Thanks for stopping by,
Jane
