Closer to Home

Hi everyone!

As you know from previous posts, Mr. Bluebird and I went to Branson, Missouri for a Spring getaway. While there, we enjoyed a day of antiquing.

I didn't come home with much, but I DID come home with the determination to find some of the things I liked in Branson at a cheaper price!

This green hurricane lamp won my heart, but the price was a deal breaker.

Same thing with these old bowls. Pricey, pricey and pricey!

What's a girl to do?

Well, we got home from vacation on a Sunday,  but I still had Monday off....so, I headed out Monday morning to my favorite local antique mall.

I was on the hunt for a hurricane lamp and for $12.00,  this one came home with me.

Loving it in my spring vignette. The color just makes my heart beat a little faster!

I also found an old green bowl for $22.00 - far less than the $50 plus bowls I saw on vacation. For now, it has a prideful place in my China cabinet. (Let's also take a momentary pause and admire my super cute cow cutting board........the little metal numbers are vintage livestock tags I found at a flea market last summer.)

I also brought home this amazing crated water bottle for $40! A total steal.

Although I was hoping to come home with "vacation" finds from Missouri, I am pretty delighted with my "closer to home" finds.

Have you found any "near by" treasures lately?

Thanks for stopping by,
Jane

  1. I love the treasures you came home with. They don't make stuff like they used to. I loved Branson the last time I went like 7 years ago. I keep wanting to get back there but haven't had time. Everyone says it's changed that alot of the theatres are shutting down is that true? I hear they have a great water park other than Great Wolf Lodge for the family. Sometime we will get to go. Glad you had a nice time. We tried to watch the Brady reality show but I keep missing it.

  2. Great treasures!!!! I love that crated water bottle. I am in the process of downsizing things so I am not treasure hunting right now...but you can have any treasures that I might get for myself! lol

My kids are in Branson right now and I sent them to Billy Gail's after I saw your postn and they just LOVED the place-Mindy said the pancakes actually were bigger than the plate they came on. xo Diana

  3. Love the green hurricane. Looks so cute with your shelf and other plates. Funny how things work out like that -- finding near home.

  4. I think sometimes things cost more on vacation just because it's in a tourist area. Good thing that you shopped back at home and found some better deals. I love your new crated bottle! I would've grabbed that one too. They can be hard to find and are usually very expensive.

  5. Jane,
Your green lantern and green bowl are great finds and look even better than their counterparts in Branson. I just got home from a 3-day weekend at a friend's country house in the Texas countryside filled with small towns. We shopped at an Antique Fair where I found several silver plated pieces of various patterns flatware. Then we stopped at 2-3 garage/estate sales where I picked up a much needed toolbox for MY tools and some vintage metal gardening sprinkler heads (50¢ and $1). Then at a small antique mall in another small town I found a 5 gallon crock with 3 blue circular bands around the top for a great price.

  6. I am seriously loving your green vignette! It all ties together beautifully. Do you notice that you can pair so many colors with green?
