Operation: Sow's Ear to Silk Purse - It Begins

Hi everyone!

We are gearing up for some serious front yard changes this spring, so I thought I'd share where we are starting from today.

We built our very simple, yet classic, saltbox style house 17 years ago. We've painted our shutters several times, changed out light fixtures, we even added a little front yard patio. All have served us well, but we always thought the front of our house could be so much more.

I
We started this weekend by replacing our badly faded shutters with fresh, new ones. The shutters on the right were the same color as those on the left at one time. Talk about an overdue project!

Mr. Bluebird owns many ladders, but for whatever reason, his favorite is this rickety, wooden deathtrap. Only the good die young...

Nice and fresh. Love a classic hunter green and white exterior combo.

I've chosen these oversized onion lights and can't wait until they are installed!

And now, the biggest change! This is the drawing from our landscaper. We are so excited for the new driveway and front entry redo. I am most excited about my red brick steps - I've pined for those for many years! It will be fun landscaping this straw and adding our personal touches.

So, phase one of Operation: Sow's ear to Silk Purse has begun! I will share our progress with you all along the way. Please feel free to give ideas of how to accessorize this "new" space!

Jane

Here Comes Peter Cottontail

 Hi everyone!

Just wanted to share my cute kitchen table for Easter with you. I fell in love with this dapper fellow from Kirklands, but not the price tag. I can't tell you how many times I've looked at him in store and online the past few months, and found myself unwilling to pay full price. I  couldn't buy him fast enough when I found him marked down to $22.49 today!

Just look at his sweet face...

This cottontailed boy is huge and really makes a statement! Love that he is fairly neutral, without any pink or purple. He should be part of my Easter decor for years to come.

Jane

First Bits of Spring

Hi everyone!

I thought I would snap some pictures of my spring decor before it is time to decorate for Thanksgiving! Okay, I'm exaggerating, but if I wait for perfect pics, editing and all that jazz - I might be posting in November, lol. Just a glimpse of our living room.

So, here is a little Bluebird spring raw and uncensored.
