January Nesting

Ahhh January! Such a month for nesting!!! My head is spinning with all the projects I want to tackle this year.We have been meeting with landscape contractors these past weeks about a major outdoor reno, so I am trying to keep my interior plans on the cheap!  And that leads me to today's post!

I have just been doing a little"house" shopping to tweak our master shelves.

I purchased the Ralph Lauren bedding with some birthday$ awhile back.  It is a very deep burgundy, almost grape, and reverses to gingham. Love! Our walls are painted a dark Gray/green from Behr.

The picture of the Frenchman was a recent antique mall find. Every bedroom needs a French guy, don't you think? lol!!

I am also displaying a leather bound copy of To Kill a Mockingbird that my hub  & daughter gave me for Christmas.

The lamps were once the perfect complement to our room, but with the bedding change now not so much! They may have a date with a spray can one of these days!

Still much to do in this room, but for now I wanted to share a little glimpse.  Thanks a bunch for stopping by! What kind of January nesting have you been up to?

Wishing you happiness,
Jane

Things Are Looking Up (At My Stenciled Ceiling)!

Hi everyone! Hope you had a spectacular New Year's and are ready to forge on into 2013! I want to share the re-do of our little powder room
I completed recently.

Before: It was a pretty chocolate brown with light blue accents.  (Almost forgot to take a before pic - but clicked at the last minute!)

This picture is the only remaining decor from the "old" powder room.  I just love the color, the stripes, and the swirly background.  It was my inspiration for the re-do.  Right now, I have accented it with some winter greens & a pinecone.

After:
This is a view as you are entering.  I found the shabby, chippy shelf at Marshalls.  It has chicken wire in the doors.  The old bottles were found  buried in a friend's backyard and are all local. We added the granite top as part of our kitchen re-do.  I am planning on painting the vanity a creamy white (Benjamin Moore Subtle) soon.

Here is a pic of my absolute favorite part of this room - although without any natural light, I was unable to get a decent pic of it.  Ta da! The stenciled ceiling.  I am in love.  The ceiling itself is a pale blue.  The stencil was done in Martha Stewart Metallic Silver glaze mixed with the taupe-y cream of the walls.  After sanding some spots to age it slightly, I finished the top with a clear glaze.
I love how the ceiling picks up the background of the print without matching exactly.
Another view of the cabinet and my Pottery Barn linen handtowels monogrammed and sporting honey bees.
The light fixture was from Lowe's and has seedy glass shades and Edison bulbs.  So charming at night.

Hey! Thanks for stopping by!!

Wishing you happiness,
Jane
