Tale of Two Recliners

Hi Everyone!

A few weeks ago, my doctor recommended I buy a recliner to use when I am not standing, working or tap dancing (well, ok, I don't tap dance, but you get the idea).  Although I am not a recliner fan, it was strongly suggested, so recliner shopping I went.  Mr. Bluebird loves his wing back recliner -  and since his was starting to show some age  - we decided to buy a pair of them.  (As if one recliner wasn't bad enough!  You know how some of you feel about ceiling fans? That's sort of how I feel about recliners.  Times ten.)

But I am an obedient patient and with Mr. Bluebird in tow, we hit up a few furniture stores and finally found a style we both liked. It was kind of a Goldilocks adventure - too big, too small, etc. This is a picture of the recliner that we finally  picked out and also the fabric.

A closeup shows just a hint of blue on the chocolate brown background.  The fabric name is Veronica Mocha.  Although I don't use much blue in my decor, I'm really kind of liking this little bit.

I was happy to find fabric swatches for our existing furniture at the store and was able to see them together.  Below is a fabric swatch of a little settee/loveseat that is in our room.

The plaid is the fabric of our sofa and club chair.

I know all the neutral folks out there might think this is mega mega MEGA pattern overload, lol!  But first of all, it has me written all over it and I really think it is going to work in my room.  Secondly, I just know it's going to work! (I know that my "firstly" and my "secondly" basically state the same thing, but that's all I've got!)  I had set out to buy a sensible, neutral pair of recliners but I.just.couldn't.do.it.

I am anxiously awaiting the call that my chairs are in and they will be delivered.  It will probably be several weeks or even a month.  I am hoping it will be worth the wait!

Before I go, I will tell you that I am eventually planning on sharing why my doctor forced urged me to get a recliner as I think my story might be helpful to some of you.  I am not quite ready to go there with you all, but I will.

I thought I would share some artwork changes in the area where the recliners are going, but this post has gone on and on and ON, so I will save that for another time.

Thanks for stopping by,
Jane

    1. I don't like recliners they are always hard to get out of, I just lay on the lounge but I do fall asleep a lot.

  2. Jane!! Good for you for choosing what you love. If you love something you know it is the right decision for you! I buy things that I love, too, and it doesn't matter what others think (anymore). I have not had blue in years-didn't want blue but all of a sudden I saw a soft blue i loved and bam- there it is . I have pillows and curtains now that have that blue in it. Matter of fact, my post tomorrow will have the curtains in it. Ya go with what you love! Hope you are okay and that the reason you need the chair is not too bad. xo Diana

  4. Hi Jane! Well, we've had recliners since we've been married and that's over 40 years! But like you, I love a pattern and I think you chose a lovely pattern and recliner style. I know all of your other fabrics will look so nice with it. Sorry you were sort of ordered to get a recliner though. Thanks for popping in to see me.
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia ;)

  5. Awesome! I love the yellow and small design ideas; on the one hand it’s simple, on the other is so creative! Shows an interesting spirit of the owner for sure…
